Consider using LED string lights for the holidays.
They use less energy and are long-lasting. LEDs are dimmable and come in a variety of brightness levels, colors and wattages. They are more durable than incandescent bulbs and because they don't get hot, they are less of a fire hazard. They also perform great in the cold!
